Our project “Direktsignal,” which primarily (but not exclusively) aims to empower migrant and BiPoC FLINTA* individuals to express their own topics and concerns through media, is in full swing. We offer numerous workshops and meetings specifically for women and genderqueer individuals, which you can always find at https://www.radioblau.de/termine/direktsignal/. Naturally, the project also produces radio broadcasts; their schedules can be found here.

According to the 2020 Global Media Monitoring Project, only 25% of the people heard, seen, or read about in newspapers, television, and radio news are women, indicating that women are generally less present as interviewees or subjects in the media. This underrepresentation is even more pronounced for migrant women, who are often portrayed in stereotypical ways when they are featured. Therefore, it is essential for our democracy to amplify their voices and make their diverse perspectives visible to promote a fair and inclusive media landscape.

This initiative is co-financed by tax funds based on the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.
