Feminist Coffee Gossip

Would you like to exchange ideas with other radio producers? Or are you not yet active at Radio Blau, but have always wanted to do a show with us? Then off to the feminist coffee gossip! We chat, laugh and get to know each other over coffee and cake. No registration needed.

This is an event from the project “Resonanzraum – creating continuities”, with which we want to create an error-friendly and empowering learning space for FLINTA (women, lesbians, trans, inter, non-binary and agender people). This workshop is therefore aimed exclusively at the group of people mentioned.

How to queer a radio

In a two-part workshop, together with Trailor Sparks from the FSK Hamburg, we will consider how we can integrate queer-feminist practices in the radio and how we can focus more on queer perspectives.
Part 1: open to all.
Friday, 5-8 p.m.: We start the workshop with a space that is open to all genders. We want to exchange ideas and answer the question of how we can design queer-friendly spaces both in everyday life and on air.
Part 2: for subjects who define themselves as queer.
Saturday, 11am-2pm: The second part of the workshop will be an exclusively queer space. We talk about occupying the ether and doing radio from a queer perspective, including training on voice and gender.

Please register by sending an email to ctw2022@radioblau.de, so that we can estimate how many people are coming and also write which of the two parts you are participating in.

Open Audio Workshop

In the audio workshop we as feminist radio makers and audio artists exchange ideas and listen to and discuss audio material together. We cowork on our projects, support each other with questions and give each other feedback on our current projects, if desired. So bring your current audio projects with you if you want to listen with us. We meet at 4:30 PM at Radio Blau on the ground floor (barrier-free) / Let us know if you need translation via ctw2022@radioblau.de // No registration needed.

How to make radio – intensive weekend course

You want to get into the art of radio making very quickly and would like to start as soon as possible? In this intensive course you will learn everything you need to know about the club, the studio technology and editing programs over a weekend and then you can throw yourself straight into the radio waves. It starts on Friday at 4 p.m., we continue on Saturday at 10 a.m. and end around 2 p.m. / Let us know if you need translation // registration via ctw2022@radioblau.de.

Feminist Radio Day

21st of October, on Feminist Radio Day, feminist radio broadcasters stand behind the mics to spotlight feminist reporting, which continues to be underrepresented in the media industry.

In 2018, several independent editors met for the feminist radio days “Claim the Waves” in Zurich and decided to network and occupy the airwaves together on October 21st. For us, feminist journalism means that FLINTA* bring their opinions, music, topics and people to the public in a non-discriminatory way, which would otherwise go under.

If you would like to get involved on the day or join the special broadcast for the Feminist Radio Day, send an email to ctw2022@radioblau.de. We send you further information then.

Advanced audio editing and conceptual work

We start the day with your personal status and problems in terms of “audio” so that I can address you directly in the workshop.
Then we go out of the studio and into the “field” with a playful exercise in perception, audio, text and immediacy. You build a small scene. Together we find out what kind of stories these sounds and scenes tell us, what images emerge how diverse these can be perceived.
And based on this sound work or one you brought with you, we will talk about the technical basics:
What is a good microphone recording? And how can we treat a recording well, edit it well or even improve it? What is a compressor, a limiter, an EQ, a delay, a reverb? And how can this be put to good use? What is an acoustic space, what is stereo? What is a good text for the radio? How do we speak there? How do we create tension? How does auditory perception work and what does that mean for our radio production? So we deal with genre-independent radio and audio questions.

Please bring: laptop with editing program, headphones, recording device (and everything you need to transfer the recording to your computer), possibly a sound work for which you need support and which we will work on directly in the workshop.
We start at 10 a.m. and end around 4 p.m. With registration only via mail to ctw2022@radioblau.de

Antje Meichsner is an artist and works primarily with sound, but also with text, film, digital graphics and conceptually. She has been doing radio since 2002 (Pirate Radio Outaspace and coloRadio in Dresden). In 2021, her audio play “Genauso bloß anders” was released on Deutschlandradio Kultur.

Technical introduction to radio

Do your knees tingle when you stand in front of the mixing desk with all the buttons and controls and technology generally makes you nervous? In this course we take the time to warm up to the studio technology and answer all your questions. After this introduction you can use the studios and recording devices yourself / Let us know if you need translation // registration via ctw2022@radioblau.de. and let us know you need a translation.

Trans Day of Rememberance

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. In a special broadcast we want to draw attention to this day and this topic.

If you would like to get involved on the day or join the special broadcast for the TDOR, send an email to ctw2022@radioblau.de. We send you further information then.
